ORDER DEADLINE ALERT - Athearn Announces A New Run Of Bay Window Cabooses With New Roads & Numbers F

You must place an order for any of these products NOW if you want GUARANTEED DELIVERY.

The bay window caboose was popular with many railroads due to the superior view of the sides of the train it provides and the reduced risk of injury to crew from falls due to the elimination of the cupola. As may be obvious to many, the bay window name comes from the extended sides housing the windows that resemble a bay window in a house. The design dates back to the early 1920’s, and versions of this caboose have continued to be built since. This Athearn version of the bay window caboose represents a version that was first built in 1973 and continues in use today.

Features:

  • Fully assembled and ready to operate
  • McHenry® scale knuckle spring couplers
  • Razor-sharp painting and printing
  • Full window glazing
  • RP25 profile machined 33" metal wheel sets
  • Perfect for small home layouts
  • Weighted for optimal performance

A special note to our Canadian and NAR modelers: One of the requests we hear the most from you, and agree with, is that there are not enough products produced for the Canadian roads.  We lobby all the manufacturers to produce more Canadian road items. Last year, Athearn answered the call with the release of a 50’ FMC Double Door Boxcar in NAR livery.  This was a very popular product and sold out quickly. This year, Athearn has added this bay window caboose for the NAR. We know this Athearn version is not the exact type used by the NAR. However, given the limited number of this type built, we feel this car does make an acceptable ready to run stand-in. As you can see from the picture from the Alberta Railway Museum below, the paint scheme is dead on accurate for the real thing. We do anticipate that this item will quickly sale out.

Also of interest to those interested in the NAR, Athearn has added three new road numbers for their 50' FMC DD Boxcar in Northern Albertal Railway colors. For details on that, click here. We have had large numbers of preorders for these cars and expect these cars to be gone quickly too.
