Hi Pacific Western Rail,
I hope all is well.
I'm including this flyer about our upcoming new HO scale passenger cars, the
6-4-6 sleeper and the Grill-Parlor. Much to our surprise, the lesser-known paint schemes such as GM&O and NC&StL are doing fine, but the bigger paint schemes such as New York Central, Amtrak and Chicago & North Western do not have enough advance orders to start production.
If Rapido don't get enough orders for the following by June 30th, we will be forced to cancel them.
6-4-6 Sleeper (formerly 6-6-4 Sleeper): Amtrak, C&NW, GN, MILW, MOPAC, NYC
Grill-Parlor (formerly Buffet Parlor): Amtrak, C&NW
Our passenger cars are still the most detailed on the market, featuring every underbody pipe and conduit as a separate part, fully detailed and painted interior, all grab irons installed at the factory, and "Easy-Peasy" battery-powered lighting.
Both cars feature all-new tooling, and the 6-4-6 is a unique post-war sleeper that was common throughout the United States and Canada.
Rapido has proven its ability to produce top-quality passenger cars, but we can't afford to make thousands of cars in the hope that people might order them when they show up. So if people don't order these in advance, we aren't making them.
Thanks for your understanding,
Jason Shron
Rapido Trains
Dear PWRS Customers: as you can see by the above letter received by PWRS, if you wish to order any of the passenger cars listed above, now is the time to do so!
Recently at a large Train Show we were asked by a number of customers to explain why they couldn't get any of the new Yellow Rapido CP Rail Cabooses?
We explained: "we (PWRS) orderd about 50% more cabooses than all of our pre-orders (in excess of 200 cabooses!), we warned customers on behalf of Rapido and PWRS they needed to do so before the deadline. (In fact after the deadline, we wiped out a major US Distributors allocation months after the deadline and months before their arrival). Rapido is sold out, all Distributors are sold out. In a call today with Rapido, they turned down orders for over 1,000 units.
The moral of the story is: if you want certain items - order them on time! Rapido and other manufacturers are not making stock to sit around on shelves! Most of you are aware of Rapido's reputation for detail and quality. So there should be no question as to the quality of the products you are committing to. Calling us next year complaining your favorite road name was not produced will receive little sympathy.
Recently at a Train Show in Canada, many customers asked if they could get any Green Saskatchewan Cars (now sold out). We replied, "you had one and half years to preorder, what took you so long?"
