Bachmann is excited to announce the New Siemens ALC-42E Chargers with TCS WowSound DCC Sound Equipped

Similar in appearance to the standard Siemens ALC-42 locomotive used on long distance Amtrak services, the ALC-42E is specifically designed for fixed trainset use with new Amtrak Airo passenger equipment. While the external design is generally the same as the ALC-42, the ALC-42E features a different rear configuration with a lower headlight placement and the addition of a socket for battery operation from an auxiliary battery coach. ALC-42E locomotives debut with Amtrak Cascades in 2026, and will enter service on the Northeast Corridor in 2027. Bachmann’s Siemens ALC-42E features the same level of detail and functionality found on our standard ALC-42 model, with TCS WOWSound DCC and authentic sounds recorded directly from the prototype.

• New and existing tooling designed from original Siemens documentation for prototypical accuracy
• DCC sound-equipped for sound, speed, direction, and lighting control
• Keep-Alive device that keeps your engine running during power interruptions due to dirty track or loss of electrical contact
• Dual-mode NMRA compliant decoder for DCC and analog operation
• Fully remappable light functions that include blinking ditch lights, marker lights, lighted number boards, and directional headlights with Rule 17 dimming
• Clear engine compartment windows with simulated interior details and interior corridor work light
• Separately applied handrails and grab irons, horns, brake hoses, MU cables, windshield wipers, antennas, and mirrors
• Detailed cab interior
• Blackened machined metal wheels with RP25 contours
• Body-mounted E-Z Mate Mark II couplers
