Back in November 2025, The Garbely Publishing Company announced a book entitled Big Four Route, covering this important component of the New York Central System. Originally planned to be a hardcover title of about 250 pages and scheduled for a January 2027 release, it has become apparent as author Bill Stewart worked with us to compile the book that the incredible research he has done will be about three times the size of the book The Garbely Publishing Company originally anticipated. Accordingly, Bill needs more time to sort out what he wants to do with this volume of research – whether or not it will be multiple volumes, etc. – and if he still wants to make it into a series of books, The Garbely Publishing Company need a lot more time to put it together on their end.
Since The Garbely Publishing Company do not know how long all of this will take, and they don’t know what form the final product will take, they are canceling Big Four Route and refunding those who had already preordered the title. Those who preordered should see a refund to their original method of payment around the end of this week.
The Garbely Publishing Company apologize for the inconvenience and what is likely a letdown for some of their customers. The Garbely Publishing Company are disappointed, too – in the 14 years they have existed, they have never canceled a book that they have already announced. However, it’s all for a good cause, as The Garbely Publishing Company want to make sure that ALL of Bill’s research (including all of the amazing photos he’s uncovered) is eventually able to make its way into your hands.
