Back on HO rails in several new paint schemes, the WalthersMainline Electro-Motive Division SD50 stands ready for heavy freight service on your layout. The accurately sized HO scale model is based on a hard-working prototype that’s been hauling tonnage for more than 40 years.

As demand for higher horsepower locomotives grew in the 1970s, EMD began testing a new six-axle model in 1979 that eventually entered production as the SD50 in 1981. With EMD’s powerful 3,500 hp diesel engine at its core, the SD50 joined the rosters of several class 1 railroads. SD50s continue to serve in regional and short line service today.

With a long list of features, the WalthersMainline EMD SD50 is sure to be a star performer on your layout!
