The Amtrak Superliner I is a bi-level passenger railcar introduced in the late 1970s to enhance long-distance travel across Amtrak's western routes. Built by Pullman-Standard, these iconic cars feature two levels of seating and accommodations, offering panoramic views from large upper-level windows. Designed for comfort and capacity, the Superliner I fleet includes coaches, sleepers, diners, and lounges. With their spacious interiors, onboard amenities, and smooth ride, Superliners quickly became a symbol of modern American rail travel and remain a backbone of Amtrak’s long-distance service today.

• Perfectly suited to be pulled by Kato’s EMD F40PH locomotives or GE P42 “Genesis” locomotives.
• All details factory installed
• Metal weights give prototypical heft and momentum
• Optional included Kinematic couplers allow prototypical close coupling while still navigating tight radii
• Superliners have full interior detailing and can be lit with optional 7-504 interior lighting kit (non-lounge only – use special #958048 to light the Lounge)
• Passenger cars have tinted, flush windows
• Designed to easily illuminate marker lights with optional light board #958046
• Free rolling, detailed trucks with rotating bearing caps (Superliners and MHC’s only) and shock absorber construction
