Bowser Mfg is excited to announce more of the SW-1001 Long Island Modern Locomotives

In June of 2025 the employees of the New York & Atlantic Railway's Fresh Pond shops restored Long Island SW1001 #101 to its as-delivered appearance prior to being returned to the LIRR after a long-term lease.

This locomotive will include all lighting applicable as well as ditchlights.

230 EMD SW1001’s were produced between 1968 and 1986 with many in service today. The SW1001, with it’s lower height cab was an alternative to the SW1000. The SW1001 used EMD’s 8-645E 1000HP prime mover. These locomotives were primarily used in the United States, but many did find homes in the following countries: Canada, Guinea, South Korea, Mexico, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the UK.
