NARC - HO Scale - New National Steel Car 4275 / 4300 cu ft 3 Bay Potash Hoppers

  HO Scale

Dear HO Customers:

Our HO scale, 5431 cubic foot NSC grain hoppers, are being delivered this Tuesday.

Moving forward, we are pleased to announce our next product, the NSC 4300 cubic foot potash cars. The primary focus of this release is on the multitude of cars that are owned privately.

You may know, Canpotex was originally set up to market potash overseas and that is why you will see Canpotex cars delivering potash to the docks for loading on ships destined for markets abroad.

All of the Canpotex cars are leased from large US based banks and investment companies. After 18 years, the cars are removed from lease and are sold to other companies. Mosiac has been purchasing older  Canpotex cars over the last few years.  Now, for the first time, Mosiac is buying new cars as you will see below in a burnt orange colour. Our intent was to have the 6 burnt orange Mosaic cars and the 6 rusty cars, one of which is the Jurrasic Park car, run with the Pink Panther car. This creates a 13 car set of old and new Mosaic cars.

Agrium, Potash Corporation, and Mosaic, were the 3 remaining shareholders of Canpotex. When potash is delivered to North American farms where it is used to make fertilizer, these are the cars making the deliveries.

Because we have had so many requests to redo the K+S paint scheme, we are making more of these potash cars. Note that K+S only moves white potash which comes from southern Saskatchewan. Pink potash is mined more towards the northwest and owes its colour to a different Ph level.

The green Nutrien cars reflect the merging of the Potash Corporation and Agrium in 2018.

Notice the 3 distinct versions of the Saskatchewan potash cars pictured below.  As the cars were built, NSC made changes to their structure thus creating the 3 different versions. PCS has 1000 cars of each of these versions. We will be making 39 of the cars, three of which are shown below as single cars.  They are Captain Crunch, Relish Today and the Halloween car.

Next are the new Canpotex cars with TCMX reporting marks. These are the newest cars leased by Canpotex which only transport white potash. The 9000th car, 50th anniversary Canpotex car, will be released as a single car with NSCX reporting marks. Also pictured is the, back by popular demand,  Agrium car. We will be doing these cars with 12 new road numbers.
