Formed in 1946 by South African industrialists and American ship owners, Safmarine is now widely known as a north/south trade and African specialist. The line is represented in more than 130 countries throughout the world, with more than 1200 sailors selling their services. Safmarine had been headquartered and registered in Antwerp, Belgium, since 1991, Safmarine acquired a 49 percent interest in CMB Transport, the liner division of Belgium shipping company CMB (Compagnie Maritime Belge).

1996 (January), Safmarine merged its own liner division with that of CMB, resulting in the formation of SCL, short for Safmarine and CMBT Lines 1996, when it completed its acquisition of the Belgian container line, CMBT, which in turn had been an outgrowth of CMB.

1998(July), Safmarine's acquisition of CMB Transport's remaining 25 percent in SCL. SCL of Antwerp will now be operating as Safmarine Container Line, Safmarine said in a statement.

1999, Safmarine was bought by the Danish company A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, and Maersk chose to retain the Safmarine brand rather than integrating it wholly into Maersk Sealand.

Since the year 2000, Safmarine no longer continued the name Compagnie Maritime Belge and formally dissolved the line activities under the term CMB.

In 2002, Safmarine acquired Torm Lines.

In October 3, 2011, it was decided that Safmarine would integrate its internal support and management functions into those of its sister company Maersk Line. Safmarine containers are seen al lover North America.

Pacer - Faded Light Blue

https://static.pwrs.ca/product_images/320400_1.jpg

PACER - Pacer Stacktrain is owned by transportation logistics company XPO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: XPO) and provides wholesale intermodal transportation  services in North America. The Pacer Stacktrain operations became part of XPO Logistics on March 31, 2014, when XPO acquired intermodal provider Pacer International.

https://static.pwrs.ca/product_images/320400_2.jpg

History - Pacer International, Inc. was one of the largest freight transportation and logistics services companies in North America. Through long-term agreements with railroads such as Union Pacific Railroad, CSX, Canadian National Railroad, and several Mexican railroads, Pacer International has access to a 50,000-mile North American rail network that embraces most of the major population and commercial centers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The company served regional, national, and global manufacturers and retailers, offering itself as a single source for all freight shipment and logistics support for its customers. Pacer International contracted with independent trucking contractors who control more than 700 trucks. The company's intermodal marketing operations were located in California, New Jersey, Tennessee, Illinois, and Ohio. In addition to its North American operations, Pacer International also operated as an international freight forwarder, an indirect ocean carrier, and a customs broker.

The company served more than 1,000 clients internationally through 17 offices and approximately 100 agents. Pacer International was the largest provider of container intermodal rail service in North America that was not affiliated with a railroad.

Jacksonville Terminal Company, JTC, is introducing a NEW line of products called the Visionary Series, or VS. This is not a new concept to the industry but is new to JTC because we have been mainly focusing on producing prototype models of shipping and transport companies. We also want to give modelers the opportunity to have unique model pieces. This opens the door for those famous model railroads people admire, talk about, and want to have a little piece of history for their own layout or collection.

https://static.pwrs.ca/product_images/320401_2.jpg

The Appalachian Lines: Several factors came into play in the formation of the Appalachian Lines. Model railroaders Tony Koester and Steve King had quickly become friends as they developed their interest in proto-freelancing (developing a freelanced railroad based on prototype railroads and practices) and railroad operations. The V&O, of Allen McClelland, was greatly influenced by prototype railroads even as they continued to move forward while the V&O remained in 1958. This desire to stay up-to-date with real railroading was reflected in Allen McClelland's interest in prototype modeling. Heavily influenced by repeat visits to Appalachian coal country, and the realization that their three small regional railroads would face challenges surviving the real-world economy of the 1970s, Tony Koester suggested that Allen's V&O, his Allegheny Midland and King's Virginia Midland form the Appalachian Lines. Modeled after the Chessie System and the SCL/L&N Family Lines, each railroad would retain its own corporate identity and color scheme but would follow a standardized layout for paint schemes. The V&O would keep its deep blue and white, the AM would adopt a bright red and yellow, and the VM would go with yellow and deep green. Although the Appalachian Lines was initially stated to be formed in 1976, the actual amalgamation took place almost a decade earlier in 1968. Like Chessie System and Family Lines, the Appalachian Lines name would be used in marketing and advertising, allowing the three railroads to pool their resources to remain competitive. Not only was this a great excuse to use "run-through" power from connecting AM and VM roads, but it also helped strengthen the idea that all three railroads were part of a larger system, and in fact connected to the national railroad network. Thanks to regular coverage in both Railroad Model Craftsman (of which Koester was editor at the time) and Model Railroader magazines, this is probably the most well-known period of the V&O's operations. (from Wikipedia)

JTC reached out to the owners of the AL railroads about adding AL models to the VS Series and received a positive response. We intend to produce these in N and HO scales. First up will be the N Scale versions, with HO Scale models coming later this year. This release imagines the Appalachian Lines still operating as an independent Group in the ‘current’ era, hustling products in and out of Appalachia, connecting to the rest of the country through various agreements with other RRs. JTC presents these N Scale Appalachian Lines 53’ domestic container models, that will be released over the next few months. MSRP $33.95 / 2-pack. MARCH 2021 release will be the N Scale VM scheme. April the N Scale V&O, and May the N Scale AM.
