It was named after Edmund Halley who accurately predicted its orbital period and return in 1758.

These 100-ton 3-bay open hoppers with rib sides and copper ore load are brown with white lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1976 for ATSF, these hoppers belonged to Class HT, and were often used to ship copper ore from mines to refining plants. Santa Fe was a large Class 1 railroad founded in 1859 and operated for over 130 years before being merged with Burlington Northern in 1996 to form BNSF.


This 40’ standard box car with single door, full ladders and no roofwalk is brown with black ends and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1941 for New York Central’s P&LE subsidiary, and later rebuilt into Baltimore & Ohio’s B-6 car class, it served B&O into the 1970s before retirement. Baltimore & Ohio was the oldest common carrier railroad in the United States, founded in 1830. After numerous mergers, it became a part of CSX Transportation where its heritage lives on today.

Special food-grade tank cars have been used to transport a variety of sweet concentrates from distribution centers to factories all over the United States. Commodities such as corn syrup, cane syrup, honey, molasses and others were commonly shipped in bulk by rail in heated tank cars to processing plants, chocolate factories, breweries and soft drink factories. Sometimes adorned by bright and flashy artwork, they were colorful “stand-outs” in any manifest freight train. This 40’ standard box car with single door, full ladders and no roofwalk is red with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1945 for Alton Railroad, this car was later obtained by Gulf, Mobile & Ohio railroad and rebuilt. With a 3,899 cu.ft. capacity, it belonged in a 100-car series. Gulf, Mobile & Ohio was a Class 1 railroad between the gulf coast and the Midwest from 1917 until 1972.

This 40’ standard box car with plug door is freight car red with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1960 for Pennsylvania Railroad, this 40’ class X54A boxcar was outfitted with Pullman-Standard Compartmentizers and was used for food service. Pennsylvania was a large Class 1 railroad formed in 1846 and grew to be a predominant shipper on the east coast until 1968 when it merged with rival New York Central to form Penn Central.

Southern Road Number Southern 159009 This green 89 ft tri-level closed auto rack, has three large SOUTHERN logo panels on grill with road number, as was usual with tri-level closed auto racks, the flat cars were built by a car builder and the racks were built by an outside agency. This flat car was built for the Southern by Pullman-Standard in July 1977, the racks were made by Paragon and applied to flat cars in this series that same year.

This 3-2 heavyweight observation car is Pullman green with gold lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger car trucks. Built in 1924, this car served on Union Pacific trains through the 1940s as a platform for UP officials to examine right-of-ways and conduct company business. Union Pacific was founded in 1862 and was part of the first Transcontinental Railroad in the United States. It continues to operate today as one of the largest Class 1 railroads in North America with over 32,000 miles of track.

This 3-2 heavyweight modernized business car is painted in the tri-color scheme and runs on 6-wheel passenger car trucks. Built for the W.F. Lenny Co. in 1926 by Pullman, this business car was later purchased by Pere Marquette and finally became C&O #15 in 1947. Used by C&O officials to examine right-of-ways and conduct company business, it continued to serve for C&O through the 1960s before being retired.

Since 1981, October has been celebrated as ‘Adopt-a-Dog Month’. Each year during this month people visit their local dog shelter, volunteer time, donate and adopt dogs in need. This unique reefer 2-pack features two companies that produce dog food, which will release this October in recognition of Adopt-a-Dog Month.

Built in 1992, this 203000-203099 series well car accepted containers up to 48’ in length in its bottom well position. The Husky-Stack well car was first introduced in 1990 at the International Intermodal Expo in Atlanta, GA.
