Joining our tram series is the Hiroshima Electric Railway Model Type 200 (Hannover) with its new and improved coreless motor for an even smoother driving experience.

The Hiroshima Electric Railway Model Type 200 238 was donated to Hiroshima City by Hannover, a city in former West Germany, in August 1989 to commemorate the 5th anniversary of being sister cities. Initially it was operated only on the Shirashima Line but later was also being used on the Yokogawa Line. Since autumn 2018 the tram has only been used for events such as Christmas, where it has been decorated to take on a festive look every December.

We have renewed the undercarriage of our Pocket Line Series by improving the power unit. Just like the real car, you can now enjoy the slow acceleration or deceleration of the tram in your city.

・Great slow speed driving with smooth acceleration achieved through the new coreless power unit.

・At only 66mm length, the compact tram depicts the image and details of the actual car in realistic and accurate manners including the message from Hannover written on the side and the painting of the car.

・To produce a model closer to the image of the actual car, the pantograph underframe and shoes are colored black.

・The attached destination display stickers have been updated according to the recent operation modes.

Morioka Color

The Morioka version is differently colored from the Sendai version and also has a purple line on the curtain plate. This version of the Series 701-1000 sometimes runs side by side with the Tohoku Shinkansen such as the Series E5 or E6.

 

KATO will produce two versions of the Series 701 that is actively running in the Tohoku region. The Series 700- 1000 Morioka Color which is active on the JR Tohoku Main Line between Ichinoseki and Morioka, and the Series 701 Aoimori Railway that runs between Morioka and Aomori on the Aoimori Railway Line crossing the Iwate Galaxy Railway (IGR).

 

Aoimori Railway

The Series 701 Aoimori Railway features the popular character “Morley” printed on the car – a lovely and unique design feature. The Aoimori Series 701 can be seen in combination with the Series HB-E300 “Resort Shirakami” or “Resort Asunaro”.
