While boxcars are not as important as they use to be due to the increased use of Intermodal containers and Trailers, it is only recently that they lost their status as king of the rails. These 50 ft boxcars were a common site towards the end of the boxcar's heyday. This size boxcar was used by virtually every railroad and many private operators and appeared in a wide variety of paint schemes, including a number of interesting patched schemes.
