Introduced in 1972 and produced throughout the 1970s this workhorse locomotive was used primarily in yard service for many Class I railroads. Basically, these units are a non-turbocharged version of the SD40-2, with a lower horsepower rating of 2000 horspower. Almost all of those produced are still in service today and, in many cases, being retrofitted as Remote Control yard locomotives.

The first release of this new model will include ten schemes with multiple road numbers available for each. All are available in either DCC Equipped or DCC w/Sound versions.
