The N5c caboose was revision of the earlier N5 caboose introduced by the PRR in 1914. This new version began production in 1942 and features the streamline styling of the day. It was designed to complement the streamlined locomotives that the PRR also built in house. The standard rectangular windows on the body of the caboose were replaced with port holes and the cupola was made more aerodynamic to add to the streamlined appearance.
The N5c cabooses proved to be very durable and went on to serve the PRR and successor railroads for many years. Some of these remained in service into the Conrail era.
This release includes two version of the caboose with road numbers in ten schemes.
