In the early 1960's, the Southern Railway became one of first railways to order a large number of gondolas specifically for unit coal train operations. With the purchase of 750 "Silverside" 100 ton gondolas, Southern became the first railroad to order a large number of aluminum cars too. These cars helped pave the way for the way coal is moved today. Examples of these cars could still be seen in service in the 1990's.

This release includes single cars and 6-Packs in three schemes.
