PROTOTYPE INFORMATION:
The Athearn Ready To Roll GP40X is based on Rail Power Products tooling and represents the locomotive that was produced in 1978. The spotting feature of these EMD “experimental” models are the flared (SD45-like) radiator grills. A few railroads received the model with the experimental HTB (switcher-like) trucks. Replicating this locomotive with attention to detail makes the Athearn Ready To Roll GP40X the only choice with model railroad operators.
